Greetings Elk Grove Families,
I have great news to share with you. Last Tuesday, at the Elk Grove Unified District Board Meeting, CMP Elk Grove had its first Charter Renewal Public Hearing. Although we were not on the docket until about 11:15 pm that evening, their Communications Director read the comments from two of our students (current and alumni), our lower elementary teacher, Ms. Doray and our parent and CMP Board Parent Representative, Scott Porter. We received many compliments from several of their board members, which made it well worth the wait staying up late to hear their glowing remarks of our renewal petition. On Friday afternoon, we received word the EGUSD staff and legal counsel are recommending the approval of a five-year term, which is very promising news. The next step is for the EGUSD Governing Board to approve the recommendation at their next meeting. Thank you to all of you as you have been our support and backbone for some many years.
We look forward to having our students back on campus in a Hybrid Instructional Model once it is safe to do so. Our sister campus, Shingle Springs, opened with a Hybrid Instructional Model in late October and has enjoyed success. The Shingle Springs team shares their best practices with all Sacramento County campuses on a regular basis. We are grateful we can look to this campus for their successes as we look to reopen. Additionally, last week a team of Elk Grove Admin Assistants traveled to Shingle Springs to observe their drop-off and pick-up procedures and brought that feedback to our campus.
Please note, CMP Elk Grove is open for instruction tomorrow, Monday, February 8th via Zoom. EGUSD is taking tomorrow off as a holiday.
Please let me know how we can support you.
